Do directv installers make good money

Some forums can only be seen by registered members. I heard the pay is really good like a week Especially for someone who don't have a Uni degree.

Then I guess the competition must be really fierce? Can you get the job with just 2 months of work history at Kroger? Were you in maintenance at Kroger? Please clue me in if I'm wrong, but don't these companies ask you to use your own vehicle?

And do you have one for company use? St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. DirectTV, DISH Network technicians - good job? Don't waste your time. I went to one of their ads from craigslist a few years ago, and it was a total joke.

They lure people with no skills or education in with the notion they are looking for "installation technicians. They get like 20 people suckers to sit through a sales 'pep rally' like presentation. Then they tell you that IF you SELL a certain number of packages to customers as you walk around through neighborhoods, you COULD possibly get chosen to be selected for the training you need to become an installation person and get to drive around in a company van and be a "cable guy.

However, that is not what is going to happen. You will work under a head sales person until you get sick of walking around and doing doo-to-door sales, and the supervisor gets to keep all your leads and gets a bonus from your work, when you quit. This is why they "hire" 20 people - becuase they know most of them will quit the first day, and almost all will be gone by the end of the week.

Then, the following week or two you'll see another ad! The actual "installation technicians" are trained professionals who came from other fields like 'electrician' or they got training in the military and they have also gone through special electronics training to do the actual installations. They have NOTHING to do with the sales part of it whatsoever. They did not start out doing sales either, despite the crap they will tell you in the "orientation" sales pep rally meeting.

DON'T QUIT YOUR GROCERY STORE JOB a real job FOR THIS!!! Last edited by el dude; at I started as a Dish Network technician at the end of March. I have not yet had a week where I haven't hit 40 hours except where I took a couple of days off. They pay time and a half for overtime, plus they have a performance-based bonus structure based on how well you do your installs.

They provide all necessary tools, equipment, uniforms, van, etc. The only thing I had to provide myself was my work boots. While I do have a degree in computer science, it wasn't really necessary to get the job in fact, before I took this job, I was a general manager for a fast food restaurant.

You can search their online careers page to see if they're hiring techs in your area http: The application process is a little lengthy. It'll take about and hour and half to go through the online application process, which includes a short test where you have to match shapes.

If you get past that part, they'll set up a phone interview. If you get past that part, you'll do an in-person interview. It took about a month for me to get all the way through to the actual job offer. If you get the job, it's 4 weeks of training. My 1st and 3rd week of training were in Denver, CO I think location varies depending on where you are in the country.

My 2nd and 4th week of training were on-the-job with another tech. They pay for all of the travel expenses. There's a pretty big learning curve with this job, so be prepared for that. I've been out of training for about 6 weeks now and I still feel like I'm getting comfortable with everything. I was told it takes a good months to really get comfortable with the job.

If u don't work for dish directly it is easy to make that or more. It all depends on who u work for. Certain retailers make u drive ur own truck but compensate you. RSP companies allow u to make more money and they provide everything for you. Avererage techs make 35kk a year at least. More experienced techs can make k easily.

But the only catch is it is more like commission. I try to make at least a day and I start at 8 and get home by no later than I work for a dish retailer i make a day. You must be a lazy dog. I average 17 installs a day. The yacht and the two mansions I own are due to my hard work installing satellite service in people's houses. You need to step it up.
